THE LAST OF THE MONKS - GRADUATION PROJECT

This is my Utrecht School of the Arts Graduation film, for my Master in 2D Animation. I designed the IP, game concept, and created an animated intro cinematic for the game.


SWORDS & SOLDIERS


This is the official trailer for 'Swords & Soldiers', a 2D RTS game created by Ronimo Games. I worked on this game as an intern, creating various props, promotional artwork, animations and even lend my voice to the female character Olga!


FIST OF FAME

Project of my final year: a collaboration between the HKU and Guerrilla Games. We had to design an over-the-top epic action game where you'd play the hero of an allout action movie. I animated and designed the characters.


KAMAL


Kamal is a powerful puzzle platformer created by me and a small group of students in less than a week on the Dutch Game Garden Summer School. I animated the character and created a little story. The game won an award for best graphics with special mention for my animations!

My name is Marlies Barends and I am a freelance Illustrator, Concept Artist and Animator for the video game, book and board game industry. I graduated for my Master in 2D Animation at the Utrecht School of the Arts. In these four years I have specialized my art for videogame application.
